There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. They may have been the architects of the great pyramids, or the lost civilizations of Lemuria or Atlantis. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive somewhere beyond the heavens.
Space…the Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
The year is 1987, and NASA launches the last of America’s deep space probes. In a freak mishap, Ranger Three and its pilot, Captain William “Buck” Rogers are blown out of their trajectory into an orbit which freezes his life support systems, and returns Buck Rogers to Earth…five hundred years later.
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space, and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition — and it lies between the pit of mans fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call “The Twilight Zone.”
